Meadowdale Primary School

20/09/2019

We have had a very busy week this week and the children have enjoyed taking part in two exciting workshops. They had the chance to make slime in the 'Crazy Chemists' workshop and had a go at dancing with a Chinese dragon in a dance themed lesson.

In English this week we have looked at another Oliver Jeffers book called The Way Back Home and have used this to make predictions and to discuss the ingredients of a good friendship. We have also introduced the children to using commas when writing a list. We will be continuing with this next week.

In maths we have been working with odd and even numbers and also considering the signs < > =.
Next week we will be ordering numbers on number lines.

We have considered the suitability of different materials in Science and have been learning new vocabulary such as sturdy, strong, flexible, firm in relation to the properties of materials.

Next week
We are having a science themed week next week where we will be carrying out an exciting investigation. We will also be continuing with our work using commas.

Other Information
We have a lot of children bringing toys to school at the moment. Please could you encourage your child to leave these at home as they are becoming a distraction and arguments are happening in the playground!

A lot of children are not yet changing their reading books regularly, we do remind them on book changing days to check their bags.

We still have a few children without PE kits at the moment, so please check with your child if they have a kit at school.

We have a lot of unnamed lost property in our cloakroom! This will be taken to the tub in the main playground at the end of today so please have a look there if your child has lost something.
