The children have worked really hard this week and are ready for their weekend! They are all still learning the routines of Year 2 and we are pleased with how they are getting on.

In English we have continued looking at books by Oliver Jeffers. We have been learning about nouns and adjectives and how to put these together to make expanded noun phrases. We will be continuing with this next week.

In phonics we have been thinking about the sounds in words when we spell.

Our maths work has involved working with the greater and less than signs < and > and considering why each number goes where.

Next week - we will be continuing to write expanded noun phrases and will be using them to improve our sentences. We will also be introducing the children to using commas in a list. In maths we will be considering where to place numbers on a variety of number lines. We will also be continuing our topic work on Materials.

Other information
Our PE lessons are on a Wednesday and Friday. All children need a PE kit on these days. If your child has their ears pierced then they either need to take their earrings out and leave them at home on PE days or bring in some micropore tape to cover them with.

Please sign your child's reading record if you have listened to them read at home.

Home activity - please help your child to practise spelling the Year 1 words that are listed in their reading record. We will be having a spelling test on these at the end of next week.
