New Woodland Building Open
Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mr Nixon, cuts the ribbon to officially open The Woodland Building
We had such a wonderful afternoon on Tuesday 24th June, as we welcomed the Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mr Nixon, to officially open our new Key Stage One building, now called The Woodland Building. He said a few words before cutting the ribbon, after which he spoke to the children and guests about how wonderful the new building looked and all the opportunities it will afford our current and future children.
Alongside our VIP guest, who was there to represent the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire and so King Charles and the Royal Family, we welcomed our neighbours from Elizabeth Place, our school governors and Trust colleagues, our Key Stage 1 families, our architects, YMD Boons and contractors, Beightons Construction and Ideal Building Systems, all to share in the moment.
Speaking of the afternoon, Liz Martin, Headteacher said, "It was so lovely to see everyone together, celebrating how much we have achieved - this building was 10 years in the making, and we couldn't be prouder of it and what it represents. We'd like to extend our thanks to the Deputy Lieutenant and all our guests for coming; and we'd also like to say a very big thank you to our wonderful choir, who sang so beautifully, and to Meadowdale School Association for the glorious balloon arch and loan of the flags."
The building is now home to our Year 1 and 2 children, offering four spacious classrooms, intervention spaces and state-of-the-art equipment. Come the autumn term, the building will be enveloped in a new woodland, enabling Forest School sessions to be in easy reach of our Key Stage 1 children.
