17/5/19

The children have been working very hard this week and have enjoyed writing their settings for an animated story called The Dream Giver.
They also completed tasks in reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling.

We have been learning how to multiply and divide decimal numbers by whole numbers and we were pleased to see that the method is very similar to multiplying and dividing whole numbers by a single digit.
School Trip

Next week is our two days out at the Leicester Outdoor Pursuit Centre. The children are very excited about the trip and we’re all hoping for good weather.

If you haven’t yet paid, please do so by Wednesday next week.
A reminder that children need to be at school  at 8am on Thursday and Friday with a packed lunch, drinks bottle and wearing suitable clothing. On Thursday, pupils will also need a change of clothing in case they get very wet during the boating.

Please hand any medication and travel sickness tablets to Mr Pierce on the morning of travel. These must be named and labelled. We will take inhalers and other medications that are already in school.
We aim to be back at school each afternoon at 4pm for you to collect your child.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Chestnut class would like to thank all the parents/grandparents who came along to last week’s assembly. Hopefully the songs are a distant memory to you all now!

Sports Day takes place on the first Wednesday after half term. This year, the event takes place in the morning. Details to follow.

Some parents have been asking if the classes for next year have been sorted yet. The simple answer is not yet. Parents will be informed after half term once the staffing structure for next year has been finalised.
Well done to the six pupils who took part in the Shakespeare Play in a Day event which took place last Saturday. A great day was had by all and Mrs Ellis who accompanied the children was very proud of their efforts. Well done Sam, Isabelle, Alfie, Taya, Daniel and Ellie.

Don’t forget to keeping reading and practising your tables with Times Table Rock Stars.
